Happy Thanksgiving!

Dear Friends,  I hope your day was special.  It was a beautiful day here.
We had dinner here at our resort at the club house.  Turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, & gravy was provided.  Everyone attending brought a covered dish.  There was a feast of food.  I made 2 pumpkin pies and cranberry salad.  My family all came into Mansfield to spend Thanksgiving together at my oldest daughter Barb's house.  I really missed being with family,  they say the first year is the hardest.
I held a card workshop this past Tuesday.  3 of the 4 came back this week, one went home to NJ and wont be back till sometime in Jan.   I will have a new attendee at my next workshop, but will only have 2 coming unless more sign up before then.  I think after the first of the year when more snowbirds arrive there should be more in attendence.  I do miss all of you, my dear friends.  I am having a hard time getting back in the swing of things.  I am thankfull right now for the small attendance.  I almost wasn't ready for that class.  I hope you are enjoying Mary Jo's workshops.  Please support her if you can.  I would love to see any cards made.  Take care and God bless you!

Found them!

Oh by the way,  I  had a free make-it-take yesterday to introduce my card making class here at the park.  My first class will be next Tuesday.  I know of 3 who will be attending.  They had never stamped before and do not want at this time to buy any supplies.  So they will pay another $1 to use my supplies.  Hopefully I can get more to come!

I have 2 cards to share.  One is a download that my neice had on facebook.  I thought the little girl is so cute.  I colored her in with my bic markers and a copic color, also used a copic blender.  I dont know if you can see the dots on her shirt.  I made dots with the copic blender.  Also the Christmas card was an idea I saw somewhere so I applied to my my stamps and colors.  I hope all is well with all of you.  It you see the other girls would you tell them I am making an occasional post of this site.  I know Pam has viewed the site.  Anyone else?    I had a problem finding where my scan of my cards went.  will try later.

Just because  I am in florida there is no reason I cant post something.  I have all my stamp stuff organized and put away.  I might just work on making some cards today.  Yesterday we bought 2 palm trees for our yard.  tom has been busy keeping our small yard cleaned.  The trees probably will be planted today.  I started this letter yesterday and finishing it Wed (today).  Hope this finds you all well and happy!

Well today, I was trying to figure out what stamping stuff to bring to Florida.  I am not sure how much room we will have and I have packed a lot of stuff and still not done. Still need to pick out my Cuttlebug embossing folder to bring.  Did figure out what cutting dies I wanted to bring.  I have no idea where I can store it in our 1 bedroom home.  I am getting excited about going but will we be ready to leave Sunday morning, time will tell.  Will try to get back on here one more time before we go.  Maybe I can take a picture of my pile. Talk to you later and I will email you my address.

Cards we will be making on Wed. Oct 2nd.

Hi Everyone,  I am almost ready for the class Wed.  I hope to see you there.  Remember this will be my last class till I come back in the Spring.  Mary Jo is excited to be taking over the evening class on the 19th at 5:30-7:30pm.  Until I get back, there will be no day time class, unless someone wants to take over.  You could do it at a different time or day if you want.  I know some won't becoming to evening class when it is to dark to drive.  Anyone interested in doing once a month, how and when you do the class is up to you except it would need to cleared with Cindy at HL to make sure there is not a conflict in time.  Well need to get back to my preparations, 2 more cards to cut out.  See you soon!  Laura

Finally they are here to post!

My grandaughter broke out in hives yesterday and didn't get to go to school.  So she stayed with us yesterday. We played Mexican Train Dominos, then she wanted to make a card for her Mom's birthday.  We had to clear a spot for her to work. ( took forever) and then we worked on her card.  She is 51/2 and did need help, although she did a good job. Well the reason for the story, I didn't get to work on my card much. Thus no posting of the cards. I am posting them now and then back to work to get all the cutting done.  Hope to see many of you tomorrow!

Can I get any slower?

Hi Everyone,  Well I have two cards for this week.  I know I can make it, I think I can.  Hopefully,  I will post them tomorrow, of course it may be late.  Hope you all have had a beautiful weekend.   I got to spend a lot of time with my grandaughters, Jillian & Juliet on Sat and also with my daughter Kristin.
Tom has been canning grape juice, had me helping part of the time.  I just love picking them off the stem (lol).  I still need someone to take over the afternoon classes,  maybe some of you can work together by taking turns.  I know Hobby Lobby would be happy having someone filling in.  And my Thanks Mary Jo for being willing to take over the evening classes, please support her, she is already coming up with ideas and very excited for the challenge.

Some cards for tomorrow workshop!

Hi Everyone,  Tom and I were away for the whole weekend so I didnt get to post anything.  I did have 3 cards ready and all cut out.  I finished the 4th one this morning.  I am doing only 4 myself as Mary Jo Isch is making the 5th one.  She is seriously consideriang taking over the evening class when I am gone so I asked her  to get the feel of doing it by presenting one card this week.   If she considers this , classes will need to be from 5:30-7:30pm.  I think she can do a great job and am incouraging her to proceed.  Anyone want to take of the day time class?  See you tomorrow!!

Florida on my mind!

Can you tell with my new layout design?  Had a good time last Wed. and I hope you did too!  Missed all of you that wasn't able to come.  Although the final count for the whole day was 11.  Somehow we got done earlier for a change.  Sorry evening class that I pushed you so hard.  I thought we were running late.  And even though you all seemed to be taking your time, we got done much earlier than usual.  I guess I just was tird.  I think there will be only 4 more classes till we leave for Florida.  Please if anyone wants to take over the class, let me know.  I will need to get permission from Hobby Lobby.  Think about it, talk among yourselves.  Otherwise there won't be any card classes till spring!  I don't know if Hobby Lobby will try to find someone else to hold the class.  This is going to be a special week for me.  On Tuesday, my Grandaughter, Laura will have her labor induced and will have my 3rd great grandchild..  Then on Thursday, my youngest daughter Kristin is having her second child by C-Section.  Kristin lives in Columbus so you can be sure I will be going down there.  She would like me to stay a few days with her when her husband Joe goes back to work.   That reminds me, I better get those cards ready for class again.

I needed a change!

Hi Everyone,  I was tired of the brown design so I decided I would go back to blue.  My favorite color!  But then I really like alot of colors.  I want to remind you to do the sketch challenge for next week.  I need to get to making my cards for next week.  Hope to see you there at Hobby Lobby.  Let me know if you are coming and when , since I didn't have to many sign up and I dont remember who did.  Last week was alittle confusing some who come during the day were there in the evening and visa versa for the the afternoon class.  I am up for ideas from anyone who would like to tell me what they would like to try in techniques or maybe would like another technique repeated.  Tomorrow Nancy Dempsey is having a Stampin Up party at 1pm.  I will be there, her Stampin Up instructor is great and I know you would have a great time.  If you want Nancy to order something for you let her know.  See you tomorrow or next week.  Keep cool in the heat!   Oh I forgot to tell you Marj Gannett was there last week, she was home visiting her daughter, Terri.  I really miss her and it was great to see her again even for a short while.

I needed a Sympathy Card.

Hi Everyone,  I needed a sympathy card and since I gave my whole stash of cards to someone to sell,  I didnt have any here..  Not to smart on my part to not save a few for home.  We used the Distress Inks last week with the water brush.  I did the same with this butterfly.  The butterfly is pop up but not so noticable here.  Also used the jelly roll clear sparkle pen on the two darker colors.    Also, I wanted to thank all of you who were praying for our nephew.  He died last evening at the age of 36 of cancer. His journey was just  4-5 months but he is now not suffering. I would appreciate if you will pray for his parents (Tom's brother and wife, Tim and Pat) and his sibblings, Kelly, Susan and his adopted brother John.  Of course they are heartbroken as we all are.  Hope to see you soon!  Take care and God bless you!

Just not enough time.

Life sure has been busy lately.  No time to do what I am suppose to do, let alone the things I want to do.  Three of my grandchildren play baseball/softball.  It seems this week with tournaments that is all we have been doing.  Today has been busy,  after Church and breakfast, we went to a baseball tournament of one of my grandsons)Kaleb).  They played Thurs and won, so played Sat.  They won, so they played today. They play Mon evening at 8pm. they could have 2 more games if they continue to win.  Last evening our Samantha played at  Ontario field, they lost. One less tournament to worry about.  I dont know yet if Billys team will be in tournaments, I do know they still have make up games as well as Samantha.  we also had a Birthday party to attend for Billy today,  We did have a meeting later at church, but that got postponed.  Instead we need to go to a viewing of a friend from church who passed away.  We might visit with my sister after that.  You say, "What has this got to do with me?"  Well if you havent figured it out so far, it means I am still working on my class cards.  I had hope to do the Shetch Challange too.  I hope you are participating.
I was invited to Stamp in up Hostess appreciation brunch yesteday morning.  Had a good time, won a nice set of stamps as a door prise.  Also I will bring a neat idea that we made (if I dont forget).  It is a plant/yard  stake.  We used the Big Shot,  a few cutting dies .   Well until the next time or till I see you Wed.  Take care and God Bless you,  Laura

If you are interested and if you are coming to my June 29th workshop,  you may want to participate in this sketch challenge.  If you do participate, there will be a drawing for the afternoon and evening classes.  You can win a prize from me!  Also if you enter the website challenge I sent you an email about you can win a set of Gina K stamps too, if they pick your name.  See their rules to enter.
I had to look at this sample a few time to see how if fit the sketch.  They rotated the sketch 45 degrees different but kind of the same.

I was ready Yesterday!

Hi,  Did I have you worried?  I didnt get to post my last card because my husband needed the computer. Maybe that is good, sometimes I think that if I didnt post them on, you might think "Oh I dont  send patriotaic cards" or I have enough  birthday cards or get well cards"  Remember you  can put in your own verses or change them to your liking.  I do miss seeing you!   I am sure most of you do have good reasons for not being there.  Well If I dont quit this post, I will be late for class.  Take care and God Bless all of you! Laura    PS  I think you will like this last card!!!

I just might be ready for our workshop by tomorrow.  Time will tell.   The Owl card has very small pieces.  A pair of tweezers and some glue for small areas, probably will helpful to bring.

Sunday, June 12, 2011

Hi, are you getting worried,  I am.  Here it is Sunday afternoon and this is the only card I have made for our class.  I was telling someone I seem to work better under pressure.  This is going to be a test.  I bought this set of stamps from Peggy and it made a great scene all together. The background colors were just sponged in using Tim Holtz Distressed Inks.

Our June 1st workshop

Thanks to everyone who was able to come.  I am sending you these pictures I took. You all are so focused on what you were doing.  Such serious looks, weren't you having fun?

Saturday, May 28, 2011

Hi Everyone, if you have time to visit StampTV,  there is a blog hop featuring their new stamp release.  It is fun to see what everyone does with these stamps and if you leave a comment at each site you have a chance of wining a free set of stamps. I would have a hard time choosing what stamp set I would want, they have some pretty neat sets.  Happy Weekend  We must take time for remember all the men and women who have lost their lives for their country.

More June 1st cards

I learned this today on Stamp TV.  You cant see this on these pictures, but I learned how to emboss the oval cutting dies without cutting the paper.  For this project, I will need someone in both the afternoon and evening class to bring their Cuttlebug and the oval Nestibilities Dies.  Also it seems we are always waiting for a black ink pad.  If you have one to bring it might help move things along.  I believed I mentioned this in a previous post, bring your watercolor pencils, if you have any.

Two of our June 1st cards

These first cards are more on the whimsical side. The first card will be using colored pencils, bring yours if you have any.  The second card, if I can get all the bugs out of the cutting process, will be this side step card.  They are both so cute!
