I survived the holidays!

Hi dear friends and family.  Here it is Dec. 28th and my brain is still in lala land.  You know what, this year Christmas came as it usually does and I for sure I wasn't ready.  All the things I didn't get finished should be a lesson to start earlier next year.  I need to do my own spiritual Christmas this week, Happy Birthday Dear Jesus, Thank you for coming into our lives, Thank you for suffering for all of us so we can be with you someday in heaven.    My goal every Christmas is to be ready early and to sit back and enjoy and reflect on   this beautiful season.    As for the Day, it had its up and downs.  But mostly it went great, the best part was having all my children safely here.  I am so blessed.  I hope your day went well for you and for those whos families could be near that  their presents (physical) warmed your heart as it did for me.  More reasons to say Thank you Jesus!   My love and thanks to all of you for being a part of my life.  Laura

Our Party

Greetings,  I had hoped to write earlier today but remembered Tom and I were meeting with his brothers and their wives in Smithville at the barn.
I wanted to thank all of you for coming to our special event.  I enjoyed the day and had so much fun with all our laughing.  Even the small evening group of 6 with me had lots of noise and laughter too!  As I said earlier in the day, I have been so blessed to have met all of you through our card making.  I hope we can continue to be friends when I am to old to do this anymore.  Thank all of you who helped me finish my gift project to all of you.  I am glad you liked the small luminaries.  Also thanks all of you who insisted on bringing goodies in.  It was so thoughtful of you and it was a big help to me.  I am touched that you wanted to give me something so thanks to all of you who contributed to my Hobby Lobby gift card.  You know I can make good use of this.  Also thanks to Jo and Karen for my earlier gift of the Iris folding Card book.  Also a big thank you to Judy and Linda for the quilted snowman wall hanging.  Oh and thank you Nancy for the extra container of date pinwheels just for me.  Thanks you all for coming into my life,  I will try to post some pictures that I took soon.  I forgot in the evening till almost everyone left. Our todays workshop!

I want to Thank you all for coming today!  I hope you all enjoyed making the cards.  I was pleased with the day, but you know what I sure was tired at the end.  Thanks to all of you who help clean the stamps for me, it sure makes my job easier,  now maybe  tomorrow I can put everything back where it belongs.  I am looking forward to seeing you all again on the 15th for our workshop celebration..  It is not necessary to bring something to eat that day but I am not going to refuse your help.  Some times I get over my head so your help will be appreciated.  If you do decide to make a food item, would you let me know so I can plan the rest accordingly but remember it is not necessary.  Until then may God keep you safe, Laura

Sorry!

Hi Dear Friends,  I am sorry for being absent for awhile.  I know if one doesnt keep posting we tend to stop looking to see if something has been posted.  Don't give up on me.  We had a very nice Thanksgiving with all the children and their families here to celebrate, all except my son from Indiana.  They will be home at Christmas.  Everyone brings in food to help so the work is light for me.  I needed only to prepare a turkey and stuffing and cranberry salad.  Everything else was provided by family.  We always have too much!  My daughter-in-law  made mashed potatoes from 15 lbs of potatoes.  We do have left over potatos.  Of course when everyone is here and eats with us, we might go through 10 lbs of potatos.  I do hope your day was as special, we all have so much to be Thankful for.  We have been so blessed.  Let us not forget all the blessing big or small that our Lord gives us.  I have also been blessed to meet some special people through the classes at Hobby Lobby.  You all are great and important to me and I miss you when you can't be there.  I Thank you Jesus for bringing us together with our common bond.  Take care and God Bless you!  Laura

Dec 1st Card workshop

I have posted our workshop cards.  Unfortunately I scan them and post them and they don't always show up as pretty as they really look.  The tree card has an intricate embossed tree with a bisque looking background. thanks to my Cuttlebug.  Did I tell you I love that machine?  How many times you say?  The blue card has what they call a waterfall effect.  The white and red card has a vellum snow embossed front.  This class may give you some new ideas to add to your list of techniques.  I was pleased with them, I think you will be too! Have a good day! Laura

Where's the sunshine!

Good Morning, I guess we need to make our own sunshine today.  We have been so spoiled with the beautiful weather we've been having.  It seems strange being home on a Sunday morning.  We went to church last evening.  We had friends who were celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversay at the 5pm mass last evening.  They had a dinner for guests at the Main Street Cafe on the square afterwards.  They served a great meal.  I am almost ready for our Wed card workshop.  I am not certain who is coming and at what time.  I also need to get working on our cards for the next workshop.  I guess I will be busy today.  Have a great day, take care and God Bless you all.

Library Craft Workshop

I had a fun evening.  I had the opportunity to attend a craft workshop at Crestview Library.  It was free, can't beat that!  It was held by Nancy Dempsey, a friend and a card class student who comes to my Hobby Lobby Card Workshop.   She had us make a Christmas box , using a paper mache' box and had  supplies for us to decorate it with.  It was nice to do something different, met some nice people, and got to see a special lady who played guitar and led us in singing at a retreat I attended years ago.  I have never forgotten the retreat and the special music she shared with  us.    I almost decided I wasn't going but so glad I changed my mind.

Another Snowman

I said before that today whoever wanted to stop and make a card could do so for free.  Well this was the 3rd one they could make if they wanted.

HL Demo I did today!

I went to Hobby Lobby to do a demo to day to promote my card workshops. I have two cards posted here that anyone who wanted to try, could make one free.  I had two people make cards beside Terri, who I let make all 3.  I believe both these ladies will come to my Wed afternoon class.

Halloween Treat Bag

I thought you might like a treat bag for just your special Trick or Treaters.  I will try to give you directions, call with questions.
Cut a piece of orange card stock ( I used a orangish plaid)  5 1/2" x 11"  Score along the narrow side, the entire length at 1 1/2" .  Then  going across the length of the paper, score at 1",3",2",3' you should have a 2inch piece left.  Across the bottom where the 1 1/2" cross the other folds, cut with scissors  each of the scored lined 1 1/2" just up to the fold line across the sheet.  This will form the bottom of the box. Fold all the folds inward, form a rectangle.  With sticky tape glue the last 2" over the 1" piece, secureing the rectangle.  Fold the two small cuts up. Put sticky tape on the 3'' lengths and fold up, one over the other.  Set your bag upright, reach inside and put pressure on the bottom to get the pieces to stick to each other.
Now I cut a strip of black, 2"x 11".  I scored across the strip at   1"2",3",2".  You should have a 3" piece let. Fold the folds inward.  Secure the black strip around the bag.
I punch out 3 circles out of orange, burnished the edges with a brown ink. Glue two of the circles together, overlaping them about 1/4 of the way.  I took a black marker and drew on the face and then glued this over the other 2.  I cut a sm strip of green paper to make a stem and glued this to the back of the pumpkins.  I happened to have a small leaf punch and cut out 2 leaves.  You don't need to put leaves on unless you want to.  Glue the pumpkin to one of the 3' sides.  Cut a small piece of orange and either stamp happy halloween or write it on with a marker.  Looking at the finished piece  may help you figure out what I am talking about.  Oh, I had a fancy border punch and  punched across the top before I folded anything.  It is OK just to leave it plain.   Now I hope you aren"t saying HUH!

My Grandaughter Jillian!

My Grandaughter Jillian!

Last evening Tom and I went to Columbus to babysit our grandaughter.  I had so much fun.  We played hide & seek, layed down in the driveway to watch the clouds, drew on the sidewalk with chalk, and played with playdough.  Getting off the ground from my back wasn't easy, but I did it.  Jillian gave me her hand to help.  I took some pictures.  Let see if I can post them.

Sharing someones journey.

Good Morning, this beautiful Sunday.  Sometime ago I was introduced to a website of a stampin up representative.  I have enjoyed all the ideas she has shared.  I also shared in her journey of watching her husband journey  with cancer.   It was not just a journey of sadness but of a journey of a wonderful faith she has with our Lord.   She posted on Oct 22, 2010,  Russ has had his miracle, he is now with the Lord.  I pray that she can continue to have the strength to go on without him and to finish raising their two young boys on her own.  I really dont know Julie and she doesnt know me, but by her journey of faith, she has strenghtened my faith.  May this day be a Blessed one for you too!

The other 2

Cards for Nov. 3rd class

Hi Everyone, Here are 4 of the cards for our next workshop.  I was working on the 5th this afternoon, but I am not sure if we can make it very easily.  If I decide not to use it,  I will post it just for you to see.  Tell me what you think of the cards.  I have 2 brown ones, would you rather not do that?  Also the red bow on the Christmas one did not scan well, it looks like there are brown spots, I think that is where the ribbon was shining more.

If you are hoping to see the rest of the cards soon, don't hold your breath.  Just teasing!  Do you have one of those days that things just dosen't want to work out?  Well this evening I had planned to have at least 3or4 cards ready to show.  Well as  you can see I didn't make it.  Can you believe I only created one card this evening?  I had the other one done to show last week.  Wow if I got paid by the hour, I would be rich!  I am hoping that tomorrow will be more progressive.  I hope you enjoyed the past 3 days, they were beautiful.  God sure paints a beautiful picture with all the colors.  Take care and God Bless you,  Laura

Good Evening!

Hi,  Wasn't it a beautiful day today?  I was asked by a friend who moved from Florida back to Mansfield, to help with a project her family was working on.  Her daughter-in-law was diagnosed with breast cancer and had a lumpectomy in August.  She had her first chemo treatment last week, has 7 more to go and then 6 treatments of radiation.  Please keep her in your prayers.  Anyway they are trying to raise money to help with expenses.  Today they were making beaded bracelets  and had to make atleast 30 to atleast fill their currant order.  I had to go an hour later then when they started and I was afraid I wouldn't be any help.  I couldn't see the hole in some of the beads to thread the plastic wire through.  I did succeed finally and was able to make 4. It was great to see a family working together to  help out.

And a special thank you to all who helped the new students and for helping me to clean up.  To Marj, We are going to miss you, since you are moving away.   Are you sure we can't change your mind?  Also to Karen whos husband passed away last week, and to Jo (her sister) we missed you. I pray the Lord gives you peace and comfort though the difficult days.  I will continue to keep you in my prayerss. Take care and God Bless all of you.

My SU party!

Thanks to all of you that could come to me SU party and for those of you that couldn"t make it but gave an order.  We had a good time and Wendy showed us how to make these neat cards and more.  We missed you those who couldn't make it.  One of the cards was very simple to make but just  as pretty as if we would have spent more time.  The other use a neat designer paper that is in the SU catalog.  It is already embossed, so we can use the stamp resist method only  with half the work.  I hope you will enjoy the cards as we did in making them.

My Sister's Birthday card

I made a card for my sister's birthday.  Will be taking it to her this evening but wanted to share it with you first.  I bought a new leaves cuting die by Sizzix and had to try it.  The flower was made with flower punches.  The embossed background is another Sizzix embossing folder that came with the christmas tree background embossing folder.

Watercolor Rose card!

Here is how I did this.

I was just trying this to see if I could do  it.  I like it but it does need a little improvement.  I used the Manhatten Flower embossing folder from Stampin Up.  I took a white piece of heavy cardstock, and embossed the design on it using the folder and my Cuttlebug. I then took a brayer, loaded it with Versamark and gently went over the raised image.  I quickly poured white embossing powder over the image, tapped of the excess and used my heat embossing gun to set the image.  I then wet the design I wanted to paint first with plain water.  I put a drip of my rinker dye ( Baroque Burgandy) on a plastic tray, absorbed alitte of the dye with my water brush painter and proceeded to color in the design.  I used the paint a little stronger in some areas to make the appearance of shading.  You could also use a regular paint brush and get the ink from your stamp pad.  When the design was dry, I cut the it out and glued it to a white card.  I fill the design with crystal effects which made it raised and shiny.  I got this idea from a SU website, only she stamped the image with the rose from the Fifth Ave. Floral set from SU.  I don't remember the stampers name.  I would have liked to have given her credit here.

I want to share with you a card I made using my Cuttlebug and a Sizzix Die. I just love my Cuttlebug! I have had a lot of fun using it and of course like anything else I do, I keep adding to my supply of cutting dies and embossing folders. What can I say, I am addicted to it.

This is confusing!!!

Here I am, and I have no idea what I am doing here.  For right now I am the only person who knows  I have a blog site.  So.......If anyone happens to get this, just remember as I said, I have no idea what I am doing here.
